Sugar gliders are small, cute animals that fascinate pet owners. Before you buy one, though, you should consider several factors.
These animals require a cage large enough to allow them to jump around and glide. It should be fitted out with toys, branches, ropes, water bottle and feeding dish. Ideally, it should be tall and narrow. This is important to consider if you are limited on space. The cage should also be made of wire. They are easy to feed, having a variety of tastes, from fruits, mealworms, crickets and dried foods.
When you purchase one, you will need to spend time with it in order to create a good bond. They are very social, but it will take time to do. They will need a minimum of three hours each day to get good interaction. If you have other large pets, such as dogs and cats, you will need to be cautious. They can easily become injured by a larger animal if care is not taken.
You can also keep more than one, depending on your circumstances. Sugar gliders are wonderful pets, but do require care and attention to keep them happy and healthy throughout their lifespan with you.
